Meadows boldly attempts to reclaim the skinhead from the traditional neo-Nazi image, explicitly distinguishing his characters from a separate racist influence, and presenting them as an anarchic youth tribe that idolised West Indian music. After meeting with a group of skinheads in the early 80's he starts to form his very own identity based on his new found friends. The acting is absolutely fantastic and opens the viewers eyes to what British citizens attitudes were to the ethnic minorities and how group behaviour can really have an affect on our own opinions and ideas and how just one person can come along an change the views and attitudes of one small group, which in turn can have a profound affect on others who think alike! Shane Meadows' film is "A soulful blast from the past sparked by heart and a throbbing beat...a near-flawless gem," and an "autobiographical homage to a lost world of youth." Trying to understand the definition 'growing up', Shaun begins a course at College, that quickly takes the wrong turn. Please try againSorry, we failed to record your vote.

Home. When Dylan's girlfriend wants... Never really had to deal with them thankfully. I do not think it is correct to enter a discussion on skinhead racism, the Faulkland conflict, and so no in the context of this movie.

I say the first half because by the time I got into the 'scene' all of the Nazi skinheads had been run out of the area or went very underground. He sees their susceptibility to the extremist right as a poignant and even tragic part of their fatherless culture, literally and figuratively orphaned by the times. It's mid 80's England, and the gang are back, looking for a laugh, a job and something that resembles a future. A black-and-white study of a social environment in London, concentrating on a pair of unlikely new friends and the girl they both fancy. Episode 1. This is one of my favorite movies that I saw on TV late at night. It brilliantly portrays the effect that gangs can have on a child, the corruption that sometimes comes with it, and the final, in this case tragic, consequences.

The father/son element took on contemporary resonance in the earlier work: its exposition made clear that Shaun was fatherless due to his father being killed whilst serving in the Falklands War, and though grossly misguided, Combo's anti-war rant to Shaun provokes a great anger and frustration in the youngster because of its essential truths – that the war itself was being fought under false pretences, fed to tame the same working classes that Margaret Thatcher had openly waged war on.
